Hello, I'm Eric.

I'm a designer who ships his own AI-assisted code. I'm also a listener, a simplifier, and a leader.

For the last 22 years I've been turning messy, ambiguous problems into products people actually enjoy using: a college transfer platform for 2.2 million California students, a mortgage app that finally doesn't feel like paperwork, and a crowdsourcing platform I helped simplify at Topcoder. Right now I'm UX Director at Joynt, a PropTech startup helping friends and family co-own homes without the legal and financial headaches, where most days I'm still the one in Figma sketching the flow, then using AI tools like Cursor to turn that into real, shipped code myself. I mentor and lead when the team needs it, but design and solving the actual problem come first for me. I take the work seriously. I don't take myself too seriously.

Beyond work

I was born and raised in Southern California and now live in Escondido with my wife and our 12-year-old son. Outside of work I'm a husband, father, builder, handyman, and happiest when I'm outdoors.

Motorcycle Adventures

I load up my gear, meet up with friends, and head out on my dual sport bike. It's the best way I've found to rediscover Southern California terrain you'd otherwise just drive past.

Building furniture

I've been building furniture since we bought our house 16 years ago, mostly for our own use, sometimes for friends and family. I also do my own home improvement and consider myself an amateur contractor.

Camping and Hiking

I've camped my whole life, and my wife and son share the habit. We upgraded from a tent to a trailer a few years back and aim to camp at least once a month.​

Suburban Chicken Keeper

In spring 2024 we brought home 9 chicks across 7 breeds, plus a coop I designed and built myself. It's been a fun, unexpected learning curve for the whole family.
